Visit ARTIS Zoo, one of the world’s five oldest zoos, just 10 minutes from Amsterdam’s city center. See hundreds of animals, historic buildings, gardens, and exhibitions.

Walk through the botanical gardens and see animals including Asian elephants, lemurs, capybaras, and many more.

Get access to the ARTIS Planetarium and learn about stars, planets, and space exploration.

Explore coral reefs, marine life, the aquatic life of Amsterdam’s canals, and exhibits about the importance of water for all living things at the ARTIS Aquarium.

Visit the zoo’s vegetarian restaurants and food stalls, and attend daily zookeeper talks about animals like jaguars and Asian elephants.

During July and August, the zoo stays open later every Saturday for Summer Evening. From 16:00, enjoy live music, family-friendly activities, and evening access to the zoo. The main performance begins at 19:00, the aquarium stays open until 21:00, and the zoo closes at 21:30.

Getting there:

By Public Transport: Take Tram 14 to the ARTIS/Holocaust Museum stop, which stops near the main entrance. Alternatively, Trams 7 and 19 (Alexanderplein stop) or the Waterlooplein metro station are both a 10-minute walk away
By Car: Paid parking is available just past the main entrance at Plantage Kerklaan 40. You can buy an all-day ticket at the ARTIS ticket office or pay the hourly rate directly at the parking lot machines
